She is a registered Clinical Counsellor with PG Honours degrees in Clinical Psychology and Medical and Family Social Work. She has a warm, empathic manner and works from a client centred perspective that acknowledges the unique individuality of each person and encourages self determination. She brings a strong problem solving focus to her practice that quickly helps clients to clarify their thinking and find a way to move forward.

She runs an adult practice and, having lived and worked in several countries, is both experienced and comfortable working with clients from different cultural and religious backgrounds.

Her current areas of work include: EAP (Employee Assistance Programmes); change and loss; relationship issues including pre- and post-divorce/separation counselling; chronic and critical health issues; grief, loss and bereavement; stress and life balance management.

Judy has great empathy and skill in helping people deal with change and loss – both in the workplace, in personal relationships and in their lives generally – and in helping them to develop strategies and plans to move forward in a more positive direction. She has long years of experience in helping clients adjust to, cope with, and recover from life changing events and circumstances. This includes circumstances that happen suddenly and unexpectedly as well as those that people may choose to make and need to plan for.

She has specialist skills in assisting people with communication difficulties, whether the difficulty occurs in the workplace (with Managers, direct reports or colleagues) or in personal relationships.

She has worked extensively with both patients and their partners/caregivers on adjustment to chronic and critical health issues including cancer, as well as grief and bereavement and fully understands the impact this has on people’s ability to cope with everyday life.

Judy ‘s formal training was in Client Centred Rogerian therapy and she incorporates other evidence based theoretical models into her practice as necessary, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Narrative therapy and Solution focussed Problem Solving Therapy.
